BREAST CANCER DETECTION CAMP

The idea to organize Breast Cancer Detection Camps for our community came from our dear friend Sherry Patel who along with her husband Karyesh Patel is a very strong supporter of WAPIZ.

SHERRY lost her mother to cancer and most of us have had a family member, or friend or neighbor who has been battling this disease. We lost a very dear volunteer SILLOO MEHTA to breast cancer a couple of years ago. What people need to understand is that if detected early, breast cancer can be effectively treated and therefore it is so important to get tested.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Karyesh and Sherry approached Dr. Pouruchisti Dhabhar and that is how WAPIZ with medical support from N. K. Dhabhar Foundation has organized various Free Breast Cancer Detection Camps at various Baugs and Colonies in the Year 2019-2020.

The detection procedure at the camps is painless, takes 5 to 7 minutes.

The various camps have been held at the following dates and venues:

  1. 12.05.2019   Godrej Baug , Eco Park              

  2. 19.05.2019   Novroze Baug, Lalbaug

  3. 26.05.2019   Bharucha Baug, Andheri

  4. 30.11.2019   Rustom Baug, Byculla

  5. 23.02.2020   C. J. Colony Recreation Centre, Tardeo

Due to the pandemic, we have not been able to have more camps. We will certainly resume the camps once restrictions are lifted.
